While transfer credits may count toward your degree at IU, they will not count toward your IU GPA. Individual schools or departments at IU will determine how transferred credits will apply toward your degree requirements. PLAs give college credit through non-academic experiences and training. Transfer credit may also be awarded for Prior Learning Assessment (PLAs). No more than 64 credit hours from a 2-year community college or associate degree program will be eligible to transfer to IU. To see how your courses from another college or university may transfer to IU, visit the IU Credit Transfer Service. Only credits earned at regionally accredited institutions (no nationally accredited institutions), in which you received a grade of C or higher, will be eligible to transfer. The IU campuses you apply to will evaluate your official college transcripts to determine if your coursework from another institution translates to credit at IU.

If you’ve completed less than 26 college semester hours (or 39 quarter hours), you’ll be required to meet first-year admission standards, and your official high school transcript or GED report will also be required.
